This story is about things that haven't gone so well...
After every riding session, me and Dad change the oil, clean the filter, check the brakes and make sure that nothing has come loose with all the vibrations going through the bike when I ride. Today we did that, but when we tried to undo the sump plug (the bolt at the bottom of the engine) to let the oil out, it just kept spinning round and round and would not come out. That's a problem. A big problem.
It means that the engine has to come out, the bottom case needs to be split, a new hole needs to be drilled, and a new sump plug needs to be fitted. But, during that process, there's a chance that tiny metal bits (swarf) could find their way into the engine and cause more problems, so we've got to be really careful. Also, when we do this, we'll check the working parts to see what is worn, and replace what is needed- that could be expensive, especially now that the engine is 20 years old! Time for me to go get our spanners, after a cup of tea!
Oh, and there's some good and bad news too- my new Pro Circuit silencer has arrived, but they've sent me the wrong part for the wrong bike! DoH!
You see those two holes in the silver bracket- they should line up with the holes in the green bike frame... but they don't.
So I've sent the silencer back and am now waiting for the correct one to arrive.
