Mechanical Problems

Sometimes things go well, but sometimes they don't!
This story is about things that haven't gone so well...

After every riding session, me and Dad change the oil, clean the filter, check the brakes and make sure that nothing has come loose with all the vibrations going through the bike when I ride. Today we did that, but when we tried to undo the sump plug (the bolt at the bottom of the engine) to let the oil out, it just kept spinning round and round and would not come out. That's a problem. A big problem.

It means that the engine has to come out, the bottom case needs to be split, a new hole needs to be drilled, and a new sump plug needs to be fitted. But, during that process, there's a chance that tiny metal bits (swarf) could find their way into the engine and cause more problems, so we've got to be really careful. Also, when we do this, we'll check the working parts to see what is worn, and replace what is needed- that could be expensive, especially now that the engine is 20 years old! Time for me to go get our spanners, after a cup of tea!

Oh, and there's some good and bad news too- my new Pro Circuit silencer has arrived, but they've sent me the wrong part for the wrong bike! DoH!

You see those two holes in the silver bracket- they should line up with the holes in the green bike frame... but they don't.

So I've sent the silencer back and am now waiting for the correct one to arrive.

Red Bull Pro Nationals

I went to Hawkstone Park in Shropshire with my dad to see the Red Bull Pro Nationals races.
Tommy Searle was there and was totally awesome, beating everyone on his new Kawasaki 450!
He rocked!

Here's the video we made

First Lesson and Ooooops!

I'm back on my bike again!
It's now the summer holidays, so I've got plenty of time to practice.
Hope it doesn't all end up like this video though!

Olympia, 1st May 2011

Sunday was my first day out on my bike in 2011.
I was a bit rusty to start with, but after about 30 minutes, I was getting the hang of it again, and getting faster every lap.
I'm looking forward to doing some more soon.
